First aid is part of integration education

Integration education consists mostly of Finnish language and grammar, reading and listening compehension and oral and writing skills.

Besides that, there are, however, also other useful skills for situations that there might occur. One of these skills is first aid.

Some basic skills in first aid, such as resuscitation, dialing to emergency number and taking care of the fainted, the unconcious or the massive acute bleeding included to the course. We also familiarized ourselves with the usage of the defibrillator, which is used to restart the heartbeat.

The first aid lessons included a lot of practice and they were held by Stiina Konttinen, who is an experienced registered nurse. Now we are better prepared for the future.
