Day to Celebrate Cultures: Our Annual Culture Feast
Teacher of the integration education opened the day of cultures.
The Finnish Bible Institute celebrated the Swedish Heritage day quite differently compared to other schools, but how is was different this year?
At the Finnish Bible Institute we celebrate the Swedish Heritage day a bit differently. Due to the diverse nature of our integration and Finnish language courses, we celebrate our own culture day.
What does the culture day entail though? For us it gives our students an opportunity to share a piece of their culture with other students. On Thursday November 6th we had students from different corners of the world holding presentations about their cultures. This year's presentations were held by our students from Turkey, Ukraine and even the United States. We saw videos about Iraqi history.
The presentation about Turkey was first to start. It ended with Turkish delights.
The presentations taught us about Turkish and Ukrainian cultures. But not only did the students have presentations, but they also brought food and snacks from their countries, so we had some Pakistani, Iraqi and Turkish delights and delicacies.
There was short but informative presentation about the Ukrainian culture among others.
Besides presentations and food we had also an American musical performance. But the day didn't only consist of our foreign cultures. We also had presentations about Finnish culture, quizzes and performances of traditional Finnish music with Finnish national instrument kantele-harp.
All in all, a diverse showing of a bunch of amazing cultures. That is something to celebrate, explore and learn.
One of our students played and sang American spiritual songs.
