Application for our Finnish language courses: Application period is open, some changes
The application period for our Finnish language courses is now. You can apply from this website from each course further information.
The courses "As a Christian in Finland" will start 19th of August and "YKI-training" for autumn semester will start Monday 24th of August. As a Christian in Finland is a year-long course that does not require any previous Finnish language knowledge whereas YKI-training is a three-month-long course that requires the Finnish knowledge A2 (advanced basics) and aims for the YKI-test.
We have organized the immigrant education for many years, though due to the changes of some rulings in the administration there are some changes that impact to our courses as well.
First, this year we organize for the first time a specialized course for unemployed immigrant women by the funding of the Ministry of education. To apply to this course applicant must be: 1. woman, 2. immigrant, 3. unemployed, 4. not under the integration period (i. e. to have been in Finland more than 2 years).
Some things change as well for the other courses. Due to the change in regulations and public funding, the integration education or the Finnish language courses during first two to three years after obtaining the residency in Finland are on the charge of the municipalities, which means than under ordinary circumstances our courses cannot anymore be taken as a part of the integration period and Finnish studies belonging to it.
The municipality and the work life office will point the place to study for those who have the integration period. However, we may still take students that do not anymore have the integration period.
