Visiting the Finnish Parliament

Our Finnish language and integration students in front of the Parliament House.

An integral part of our Finnish language courses is the knowledge of the Finnish society and political systems. Every year students from our Finnish courses have an opportunity to visit the Finnish Parliament.

After a few weeks of anticipation, our students finally visited the parliament. Having prepared for the visit by writing a few questions, we were ready for our visit. There is always a chance to ask questions about the varying issues to some member of the parliament or someone else working with the legislation.

Meeting hall of the Finnish Parliament, where the members gather to vote and to discuss.

The visit started off with a guided tour of the facilities within the building. During the tour our guide shared facts about the building, alongside pieces of its history. The Minister of Foreign Affairs was giving a media conference about the new security political report in the Audience Hall.

We finished our tour at the session hall.

There the reigns were passed to a worker of the parliament, a secretary of a politician. Our students asked a few prepared questions, which to they received satisfying answers to. After the questions were answered, our visit came to an end and we headed home.
