Finnish language and grammar is the main focus of our Finnish language and integration courses, but we follow the curriculum for adult integration education which includes other topics as well.
Though the majority of the weekly schedule is dedicated to Finnish language and grammar, our integration education includes also other things like Finnish history.
This week (13-17 October) is the autumn holiday for schools in Finland. Though the schools have leave, we still continue our studies.
Part of our Finnish language and cultural studies is a series “Church in Finland”. This week we visited the nearby Kauniainen church and learned about diakonia, the service that church does for the poor, the needy and the less fortunate.
Libraries are central cultural services. Both of our Finnish language and integration courses visited Kauniainen library, one of the many Helmet-libraries in Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen region. One could get the library card for free and learn the various library services.
There is a possibility for our students to have free extra help with Finnish language after the classes. This means both YKI-test and “As a Christian in Finland” course.
