Finnish Course for Immigrants

Finnish language and integration courses “As a Christian in Finland” and “YKI-training” are your path to the Finnish language, culture and society.

Finnish language and integration courses “As a Christian in Finland” and “YKI-trainig” have started 30 August. There are more than 30 students in these courses combined coming from Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen.

In the autumn there will start two courses: a year-long integration course “As a Christian in Finland”, which has no requirement of previous knowledge in Finnish and a three-month-long YKI-trainig that prepares for the intermediate National Certificate of Language Proficiency (YKI-test).

The Finnish language and integration course “As a Christian in Finland” in Finnish Bible Institute in Kauniainen includes also educational trips in Helsinki region. Understanding the Finnish language is important but also history and culture are significant. We visited Finnish National Museum as a part of our course.

Last week we made a little trip to Espoo museum Glims, that exhibits the historic Finnish farm and countryside milieu.

After training in “As Christian in Finland” language course, you will be able to converse about things that are important to you in Finnish. You will understand how the Finnish society and democracy work. You become an active member of society and find ways of influencing common issues.

General language exams are language exams for adults. Examinations measure language proficiency in practical situations where an adult has to speak, listen, write or read Finnish.

With a Certificate in Finnish, you can prove your language skills when applying for a job or a place to study. The Yki test intermediate level certificate is also required to obtain Finnish citizenship.
